When you Fall Down.... Get back up!

So, I thought I had been doing really good..... but.....
I kinda fell of the wagon this past week. I took a look at my calories and as I've been trying to keep my calorie intake around 1500, I knowticed that 4 out of 7 days I consumed over the 1500. and 3 of those days were over 2500.
But since I am counting my calories and writing down what I eat, I have a better idea of what caused this. The one reason was I splurged when I went out to eat. I have to do better, no more dessert when I go to a restaurant. I should wait til I get home and eat something I have a home, like yogurt that has fewer calories, or my favorite... skinny cow icecream sandwich!

Its ok though. I just need to remember that I cannot make a habit out of splurging. Its ok, every now and then, just not every day. I have upgraded my exercises to 45 minutes, which does NOT make it ok to eat more calories. (I'm telling myself this more than those reading.)

So, I learn from my fallbacks... I don't quit, I keep going.

Sweat it Out... I mean OFF

Wow, what a workout today. I progressed in my lenght of workout. I had been doing 30 min workouts and the program said I burned 165 to 170 calories when I did 30 min. I was feeling good today... so, I decided to try a 45 min workout.... Not only did I feel like I got a workout, the program said I burned 265 calories... that was exciting!! 15 extra minutes of work and I burned an extra 100 calories. I think I will try the 45 min workouts for a few weeks.

I feel like I have so much more energy after I have a good workout too. Like, I actually feel like washing dishes... and I HATE washing dishes.

Starting to show

Well, I am happy to say that improvement is starting to show.
Its been two weeks since I started my new fitness routine. But results are starting to show. I have lost 2 inches on my waist, 3 inches on my hips, 1 inch on my chest, and 2 inches on my thighs. My calf and biceps have stayed the same.

It feels good to put on jeans fresh out of the dryer and not have to fight with them to zip. Normally I would have to lay on the bed to zip those jeans, now they just pull right on and zip right up, no struggling required. If that isn't motivation to keep eating right and exercising, I don't know what is. Well, its motivating to me anyhow.

Little By Little

This morning I got up and decided to weigh myself. I've been working out for about a week now. I've been eating more salad, and trying to stay away from the "bad carbs," like dessert. I guess I must be doing something right. The scale said I weighed 279. I couldn't believe my eyes. Just to make sure I wasn't dreaming I did it 3 more times. It said 279 each time, so it must be right. So in just 1 week I lost 4 lbs. How exciting is that. I also lost 1 inch around my waist in 1 week as well.

That's all for now, I'm off to my bowling league.

Slow but Sure...

So I've been doing my Bible reading every day, I've been reading in the book of Luke. Today I read about the women who wiped Jesus's feet with her hair. In Luke chapter 7. This woman had faith that Jesus would save her from her sins.

Now as for the whole... what's the weight..... My scale hasn't budged :(
I've been doing a workout every day. I even got a new tool, it's called Wii "My Fitness Coach" I really like it, its like going to an aerobics class. I've also been keeping track of my calories.
But I have to say. As far as I can tell, my scale hasn't gone up, so that is definitely a plus.

I know its going to be a slow process to lose the weight. I just have to stay motivated.
I know I feel better by doing the workout... it may be weird, but it feels good to workup a sweat.

Day 2

So, today is day 2. And yes I did my Bible reading for the day. Did that first thing when I woke up. It seems as though the day goes by so much easier when I put God first.... who would have thought. Ok, that was a little sarcastic, but the truth of the matter is that we are supposed to put God first in everything we do.

Now that I think about it, I should be praying everytime I exercise, and asking God for help to get me through the routine so that I can glorify Him. There is no way I can lose this weight without putting him first in my life. The Bible says that our bodies are supposed to be a living temple for our Lord and to be presented blameless. I need to be putting good things into my body, like better food and not so much junk food (guess I need to cut back on the cookies left over from Christmas)

I had my bowling league today and then did some exercise on the Wii. I had a nice day... other than the snow, I could really do without the snow...... but God must have a reason for the snow, if you can think of a reason, let me know.

Off to Dinner.... I hear chicken noodle soup calling my name.... a nice warm bowl of soup for a nice COLD winter night.

Today is Day 1

I did my 30 minutes of Wii Fit and let me tell you I sure did sweat.

It felt good to do some exercise. Since I am just starting out I only did some exercises that I knew I could do, or at least I thought I could. The one exercise on Wii Fit has you stand on one leg and you bring the other leg up in the air and then you kick it backwards and bring it up again. You do this for 6 reps on both legs. Well.... Wii Fit measures your balance on this particular exercise, that looked easy in the beginning, was not so easy. I have very poor balance on that exercise. My trainer on the program told me to come back and try again. But I will not be discouraged, I look to this as I challenge that I must overcome.

Todays Devotion was on Hebrews 9:22 I trust you will open a bible, or look online to get the content of the verse. What I learned from this verse is that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Jesus had to die for my sins so that I can go to heaven.

If you check out the link on this site "Devotions for Dieters" you can get the whole devotion there.

From the Beginning

Today I decided that I need to lose weight.
Not just to look better, but to feel better.
I have to lose weight for my health, to live longer and for a better self-esteem.

Today, I realized that if I can lose a pound a week, by the end of the year I would be 40 to 50 lbs lighter, and wearing smaller clothes.
My goal is to lose 1 to 2 lbs a week... if I could lose 2 lbs a week that would be 100 lbs lighter, that would be fabulous. But if I can do 1 lb a week for the next year... I´d be on my way to a great start.

With these things in mind, I have some things that I will be doing to help me accomplish these goals. To start with, smaller food portions- that is key. reading labels and actually eating the serving size is a good way to start. Yes instead to 3 cups of cereal and 2 glasses of milk.. it should be 1 cup of cereal and 1 glass of milk. This changes the calorie intake drastically.
Another tool I will be using is my Wii.... I plan on Doing Wii Fit 4 times a week, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 30 minutes a day. On Wednesday I have my bowling league. On the Weekends I will take to spend time with my Family and doing other activities. On Sunday I will go to church... which brings me to another thing....

I will also start reading my Bible every day like I should be doing.

I would appreciate your encouragement as I progress through this journey...... All this is From the Beginning of 2009 and from the beginning of my journey to a new me
