This past week has been pretty crazy. A man from our church passed away this week. We are very good friends with the family, and my brother-in-law is married to one of the daughters, (Joyce) and we are very good friends. My sympathy for the family is felt.
With that being said, my brother-in-law (Don) and Joyce, as well as their kids came home for the funeral. And my eating habits this week were not what I would have wished them to be. I tried my best to eat "healthy" but the cake called out to me, and there was no return. However, I suppose it is ok to splurge once in a while. I did make sure I got my workout in everyday though.
When I did my weekly weigh in this morning, I couldn't believe my eyes, I lost weight! It was amazing with all the food I ate. I didn't see much movement in my inches, but I lost like 4 lbs. Whoo hoo!
This week I will go back to counting my calories, I am just excited I did as well as I did without counting. Go Me!

Just an update
So, there is one more week left in February, in order to meet my goal of losing 1 pound a week, I have to lose 1 more pound by next sunday. I'm pretty sure I can do it.
This past week I didn't lose any pounds, but I did lose a few inches over my whole body, so that's good. If nothing else, keeping track of my inches is somewhat of a motivator. It helps me to know that I am doing something right. I am strenthening my muscles and building them up. Which is why I believe I didn't lose any weight this week, I'm still building musclse, and muscle weighs more than fat.
I'm excited to say that I dropped a pant size. At Lane Bryant, they have what they call "Just Right Size" different types of pants made to fit different body types. I am a blue, which basically means I carry most of my weight in my hip area. Well, they have funny sizes in their "Just Right Size" I had been wearing a size 6 Blue in my jeans... which is about the size of a 26 in normal sizes. This weekend I took my friend with me to the mall, I wanted someone else to tell me if the smaller size actually fit.
Well..... the size 6 jeans were practially falling off of me, and I do have some size 26 dress pants that I can't wear because they are now too BIG! I tried on a size 5 jeans and dress pants... its exciting, I dropped a whole size. I still have a pair of jeans that are a size 20 from before I got married, and they are still my first goal jeans. They don't quite fit yet, but I had to get new jeans this weekend, I couldn't stand to have to keep holding my pants up so they wouldn't fall off. Just a few more inches though, and I think I might be able to get those size 20 jeans on

Showing Progress
Progress is being shown, I am now 276 lbs. Better yet, I'm 3 dollars richer!
My mom and I are part of a group of ladies that are striving to better our health. The group is called ASTROS which stands for Always Striving To Reduce Obesity Sensibly. We have our meetings on Monday mornings.
Well, the progress truly does pay$. Its kind of like a smaller version of "Biggest Loser" Whoever loses the most weight that week wins a dollar. The runner up wins 50 cents. And also if you keep track of what you eat, you win a dollar for that. I have been the "Biggest Loser" 2 weeks in a row, plus I got paid for my food log =)
Now, on the flip side of that, who ever gains the most has to put 25cents for each pound gained in the "piggy bank" I think my mom was the biggest gainer 2 weeks in a row... sorry about that mom. Guess you'll have to start working out with me =)
So, I feel good, been doing my exercises, and the inches and weight are coming off. I am soo happy!

Starting Over
Ok, So I know its been I while since I last posted. Truth is, I was on vacation in California =) Went to see my new baby nephew.
I did fall off the bandwagon a little. I tried to eat healthier, but when you're not the one doing the shopping, you kinda have to eat what is available. Also, I really didn't exercise like I should have. I had every intention of walking around the block at least once a day while I was there, that didn't happen. The only walking I got in was at the grocery store, at the zoo(which we were there for 4 hours) and at Fisherman's Warf. So, I supposed that does count for a few days, but not as much as I had hoped.
With that being said.....I have returned to Ohio with a weight of 278, I believe I may have gained 2 lbs while I was away, as I was 276 when I left. I believe that to be an accomplishment with all the junk food I ate and lack of exercise.
But now that the vacation is over, it is time to get back in the saddle and start over.

When you Fall Down.... Get back up!
So, I thought I had been doing really good..... but.....
I kinda fell of the wagon this past week. I took a look at my calories and as I've been trying to keep my calorie intake around 1500, I knowticed that 4 out of 7 days I consumed over the 1500. and 3 of those days were over 2500.
But since I am counting my calories and writing down what I eat, I have a better idea of what caused this. The one reason was I splurged when I went out to eat. I have to do better, no more dessert when I go to a restaurant. I should wait til I get home and eat something I have a home, like yogurt that has fewer calories, or my favorite... skinny cow icecream sandwich!
Its ok though. I just need to remember that I cannot make a habit out of splurging. Its ok, every now and then, just not every day. I have upgraded my exercises to 45 minutes, which does NOT make it ok to eat more calories. (I'm telling myself this more than those reading.)
So, I learn from my fallbacks... I don't quit, I keep going.

Sweat it Out... I mean OFF
Wow, what a workout today. I progressed in my lenght of workout. I had been doing 30 min workouts and the program said I burned 165 to 170 calories when I did 30 min. I was feeling good today... so, I decided to try a 45 min workout.... Not only did I feel like I got a workout, the program said I burned 265 calories... that was exciting!! 15 extra minutes of work and I burned an extra 100 calories. I think I will try the 45 min workouts for a few weeks.
I feel like I have so much more energy after I have a good workout too. Like, I actually feel like washing dishes... and I HATE washing dishes.

Starting to show
Well, I am happy to say that improvement is starting to show.
Its been two weeks since I started my new fitness routine. But results are starting to show. I have lost 2 inches on my waist, 3 inches on my hips, 1 inch on my chest, and 2 inches on my thighs. My calf and biceps have stayed the same.
It feels good to put on jeans fresh out of the dryer and not have to fight with them to zip. Normally I would have to lay on the bed to zip those jeans, now they just pull right on and zip right up, no struggling required. If that isn't motivation to keep eating right and exercising, I don't know what is. Well, its motivating to me anyhow.
